Grant boost from Rainscape project

The Llanelli Railway Goods Shed Trust has received a £640 grant boost from the Dwr Cymru Welsh Water Rainscape project.

The news was published by the Llanelli Star on Wednesday, July 5, 2017.

Robert Lloyd, project officer for the Llanelli Railway Goods Shed Trust, said: “We were delighted to receive the support from the Rainscape grants scheme. We were among a number of local community schemes selected to receive grants in what was obviously a very competitive scheme.

“We thank Dwr Cymru Welsh Water for their support.”

A number of community groups were  awarded a share of £10,000 as part of Welsh Water’s Community Fund.

This is the first time Welsh Water has offered this scheme and more than 40 groups applied for the grant.

The aim of the community fund is to give something back to the communities where Welsh Water has been delivering its innovative urban flooding alleviation scheme, known as Rainscape.

Rainscape helps reduce the risk of flooding and pollution by catching, slowing down and reducing the amount of rain water which goes into the sewer network. The Rainscape project is being delivered across Llanelli, Burry Port and Gowerton.
