The Llanelli Railway Goods Shed Trust is a volunteer-group of people committed to preserving Llanelli’s industrial heritage. Since 2011, we have been creating plans to restore a derelict Railway Goods Shed back into use for the benefit of the local community.

The Goods Shed once played a crucial role in the development of Llanelli as a major industrial centre. After it ceased operation in 1966, it has been largely unused. The shed is structurally sound and is one of the few remaining buildings of its kind.

Our vision is to transform the shed into a hub for cultural, heritage, community and enterprise activities. We want to create a dynamic, welcoming space where our diverse community can come to explore Llanelli’s heritage. The shed’s vast interior will provide an ideal space for community activities such as concerts, classes and other events. The first phase of the project will be to restore the Shed’s Office building for local organisations, business start-ups and community groups to use as office and meeting space.

We believe that this project will act as a catalyst for the regeneration of a largely deprived area and is supported by Carmarthenshire County Council.

After several years of negotiations, consultations, fundraising and grant applications we plan to start Phase 1 of the project in the coming weeks! This would not be possible without the generous funding we have received.
