Our Vision – Architects Impressions

Our vision is to transform the shed into a hub for cultural, heritage, community and enterprise activities. We want to create a dynamic, welcoming space where our diverse community can come to explore Llanelli’s heritage. The shed’s vast interior will provide an ideal space for community activities such as concerts, classes and other events. We also plan to revive the shed’s office building for local organisations, businesses and community groups to use as office and meeting space.

The Goods Shed

The Goods Shed is a derelict listed building. It has been largely unused since it ceased operation in 1966, but is structurally sound. We want to bring it back into use for the benefit of the local community.

The Signal Box

The signal box was built in 1877 and is where the signalling control took place, i.e. the process by which control is exercised over train movements by way of railway signals and block systems to ensure that trains operate safely, over the correct route and to the proper timetable. We are looking to agree a 10-year lease of the signal box with Network Rail.

Armistice Day Remembrance Service in Dafen, 2018

The service was attended by Goods Shed trustees, where we remembered those who fought for their nation. Our trustee, George Parker MBE sponsored an information booklet which was distributed at the service. You can find a link to this booklet under heritage on our website.

Remembering the fallen Great Western Railway (GWR) Men, 2018

Former First Minister for Wales, Carwyn Jones MS attended our official unveiling to the men from the GWR in Llanelli who fell in the Great War.
